CBRI

The Commander Behavioral Rating Inventory (CBRI) is a brief behavioral screening tool designed to assess symptoms across several DSM-5 disorders that are often complex and overlapping in presentation. The CBRI measures both attachment disorders—Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) and Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder (DSED)—as well as Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder.

The instrument was developed to address a significant gap in available assessment tools: at the time of its creation, there were no dedicated rating scales for RAD, DSED, or DMDD, and no self-report measures for youth assessing Autism or Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder. The CBRI takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete and is designed to be used alongside other clinical measures and interviews to support accurate, comprehensive diagnostic formulation.
